WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT MY FIRST VISIT TO PEACEFUL PRANA THERAPY?
The first therapy session is an intake session where together we’ll review your history, discuss what prompted you to start therapy and review your goals for therapy. It’s time for you to get to know me, to ask any questions you might have and get a feel for my office so that we can decide if working together will be a good fit. If so, we’ll schedule the next session to begin the therapeutic work together.
THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME... I SHOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE/FIGURE THIS OUT ON MY OWN, RIGHT?
When you decide to begin therapy it’s actually a sign of your inner resilience and desire for self-care. Your decision to meet with a therapist is no different than when you meet with a doctor for the flu or an accountant to file your taxes. When you decide to meet with a professional your recognizing that your mental, emotional and spiritual health are important aspects in your life.
At different times in life we all need professionals to guide us. Meeting with a therapist gives you the chance to learn about yourself as well as develop actual skills to help with your current challenges as well as any other concerns that arise in our work together.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
I require 24 hours notice of cancellation or you’ll be charged for the appointment. An occasional exception may be made in the case of an emergency.
IS WHAT I SHARE CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes! What you share with me in therapy is completely confidential except if there’s:
-
An immediate threat or harm to yourself or another person
-
Suspicion of abuse/neglect of a child or vulnerable adult
-
Court Subpoena
We will discuss confidentiality and other office policies during our initial session.
DO YOU OFFER ONLINE VIDEO COUNSELING? AND IS IT AS EFFECTIVE AS MEETING IN PERSON?
Currently, I'm only offering Telehealth services for those livings in Oregon and Florida. I offer online counseling through a HIPAA compliant platform so our meeting will remain private and confidential.
The most important aspect our work together is the relationship and your level of comfort with me which can be created just as strongly over video sessions as it is in person. Now with that being said it’s also an individual decision; for certain people there’s a benefit to meeting face to face but for others it may not be necessary. We can further discuss these options if we decide to work together.
HOW LONG WILL THERAPY LAST? HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN I'M FINISHED?
This will be different for everyone. For some, 6 months due to crisis, such as a break up or loss of loved one, is sufficient. For others, who want to change deeply rooted patterns and belief systems the process will take longer. In our work together we will continually check in so that we can openly discuss if it’s time to end therapy.
